Fresh, Fun Ideas to Decorate Your Home

I just posted this new picture of one of my Giclee Art Prints from my

Etsy Shop!

This is a fun one of my Cow Girl "Pretty in Pastel" for the kitchen, I just popped

it in a 'ready made white frame' already matted in white too.  Easy-peasy!

A nice clean look for a pretty little spot in any nook!

Create a grouping, let your imagination go wild!

Happy New Year! Try 'New' DIY Art Project! @jemmasgems

Happy New Year Everyone!  Hoping you had a wonderful year and Christmas season!

Now for a new start and 'New' ideas for 2017.

 

For starters......Try this 'Fun DIY Art Project by Tanya..... (Tanya's Instagram)

She purchased 2 of my art prints in  My Etsy Shop 

And she created a wonderful project using MOD PODGE...putting them on canvas.

Follow Tanya's EASY steps:

Materials:
- Purchase art print by Jemma Gems
- paper cutter
- stretched canvas to match size of your print
- burnt umber acrylic paint
- Mod Podge
- foam or bristle brush

 

Step 1: Trim your print so it's 1/8" smaller than the dimension of your canvas.

 

 

Step 2: Paint the edges of the canvas with burnt umber acrylic paint.

 

 

Step 3: Cover the surface of the canvas liberally with Mod Podge. Work quickly because it dries fast.

 

Step 4: Set print on top of the canvas and lightly rub with fingers to set it flat. Make sure all the edges are firmly glued down. Some glue might come out on the sides, but don't worry. It dries clear. Or you can wipe excess away with damp cloth or sponge. Let dry for 1 hour.

 

And Voila! You have 2 beautiful prints on canvas ready to hang!

Ideas for Decorating Your Kitchen- by Jemma's Gems on Etsy

I love painting my colorful animals but, right up there with the excitement of creating is seeing how my collectors frame and decorate their living spaces with my art work.

My collector Yasmine A from the Netherlands! Sent me her photos of how she framed and decorated her very modern kitchen with my Giclee prints.

I love her modern black and white kitchen accented with her bright colors...

The 'Colorful Roosters' and' Organic Girls' cow prints add to the fun!

And what a clever way Yasmine displayed my 'art cards', with her Fleur de lis decorative hanging clips in the carved wooden frame.  I love the glass bud vase! a Perfect touch!

Home Again - Enjoying Spring Flowers! at Jemma Merriweather Smiths

 

I'm home again after being gone all winter exhibiting at art shows.  The weather is beautiful here on the Southern Oregon coast!   It's so nice to be home! 

On my morning walk down to the beach I spotted these gorgeous wild iris!

#Happy Cow# Wall Decor-Etsy Collector Featured for Christmas! and 'New' Original Painting by Jemmas Gems

 

One of my Etsy Collectors Jonee S. just sent me her lovely picture of  my 'Happy Cow' that she framed so beautifully just in time for Christmas!  

This is the largest I've ever printed

 her 24 x 36 on a matte watercolor paper, which was a great call by Jonee as she wanted a 'life size' look with a more subdued finish! Bravo Jonee and Thanks for sharing!

Wall Decor -Smart, Easy, Affordable by 'My Collectors' on Etsy

I love it when my 'Collectors' on Etsy send me their photos of how they

framed my Prints!   This is from B.J., a very clever and creative decorator and Blogger;

B.J.'s pics  and story show how she framed my 12 x 16"  'Cow Girl' print.

 

This is B.J.s finished framing project (above) - and it looks so lovely in her living room.  Read about her journey to find the right frame............

The problem...it was $60...but I knew those frames would go on sale for half price the very next week...and I knew I could wait for that sale..
$30 sounded MUCH better. 
 

I put a black mat and that amazing frame around

this sassy, cute little girl cow and

fell totally in love forever......

 It's a great idea to always check your local Art & Craft & Frame shops.   Many of them like Michael's, Hobby Lobby, Aaron Brothers etc. have frames and mats pre-cut and

all ready to go and when you buy one you can often get the 2nd at a discounted price, sometimes for just 1penny!   Or wait for the great sales like B.J. did.   Enjoy!

Summer Blueberries - My Favorite! & a Purple Tongue!

We've been waiting all year for our 'FAVORITE' time of the year....
Blueberry season!   It started up right after the 4th of July here on the Southern Oregon Coast.
And we've been picking ever since.

 

Feast your eyes on these beauties!

And they are as BIG as grapes and oh so delicious!

 

We picked these at Valentine's Farm in Langlois, OR. ♥
Their season has finished already, so on to other Blueberry farms up and down the coast.

 

With the size of those Blueberries it was easy picking too!

Gotta fill that freezer up!

So when I'm not painting at my easel......you know where I am!

What a great day to start up my blog....and update a little.   What day is it you might ask?
It's "COW APPRECIATION DAY".     And being that I love our bovine beauties and all that they do for us......I am very thankful for our 'cow girls', and all cows in general.

Here are 2 great Treasuries on Etsy......to show our appreciation for Cows! 
So go hug a cow, or at least pay your respects and give them a shout out! 
And think of them while eating your summer ice cream treat!  They give us so much, and they are so beautiful to behold!
